about

This album is the musical record of a significant artistic event: a live performance, by Tam White and the Dexters, at Edinburgh's Preservation Hall. The spiritual connotations of the Preservation Hall are entirely appropriate to the occasion for Tam regards himself as a born-again blues singer and the Preservation Hall - once a church, now a popular public house owned by West & Co, promoters of the album - as 'the home of the new Dexters'. In conversation Tam emphasises the theme of rebirth and revival and understandably so.

Twenty years after his first recording he is back with a difference, a desire to communicate rather than charm; a determination to tell a story rather than simply sell a song.

(Alan Bold (well-known Scottish poet 1943-1998)
